MUSARRAT MAISHA REZA, Ph.D.
Women's Leadership Research and Policy Intern
Maisha is a skeletal muscle biologist and has obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science from the School of Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2017). She is strongly passionate about women’s leadership and gender equality. Maisha was selected as a Leader of Tomorrow at the 46th St. Gallen Symposium, advocating for equal opportunities and resources for women. She is currently developing Programmes, which integrate her passion for Science with her hope to empower refugee and underprivileged children with creative science and quality education. She believes that every child has a right to an education regardless of race, gender or socioeconomic status.
Peace and Security Research and Policy Intern
A third-year student at Tulane University in New Orleans, the city that has her heart, Hanan is studying Neuroscience and Public Health with career goals either in international law or palliative care. To keep well-adjusted, Hanan balances her mostly science-leaning course load with well-developed outside interests, ranging from elderly care to refugee relief, writing, and travel. Hanan is passionate about finding creative ways to uplift traditionally silenced voices, and is super excited for the opportunity of mentorship from Dr. Murabit!
Public Policy Intern
Aàron is a Law student based in Montreal, originally from El Salvador. He loves to travel and enjoys conversations with people from all around the world with different positive ideas. With an interest in security, particularly in Latin America and the Middle East, Aàron believes the law will lead to improved and sustainable ways of solving global security issues.
MICHAEL J. SMITH
Health Research and Policy Intern
Based in New York City Michael is completing a Master's of Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He previously has an undergraduate degree in Environmental Biology and has over five years of experience in scientific research and human health. Michael has co-authored a published paper in a national genetics journal and is co-authoring a manuscript to be published in 2017.
